Works of Wyoming Presents
First Exhibit Downtown
 |
| Sheep Mountain at Sunrise by Dan Hayward |
Laramie's March Gallery Walk will see a
newcomer to the monthly event this coming Friday. Nine local
artists will exhibit their work between 5:00 and 8:30 on
Friday evening, March 7, as members or associates of the
Works of Wyoming (WOW). This will be WOW's first group art
exhibit during Laramie's
First Friday Gallery Walk. Five of the eight
WOW artists will display a variety of art in their Civic Center
studio/galleries, including Dan Hayward and Mack Brislawn in
room 278, Susan Davis and Rebecca Sissman in room 267, Jerry
Glass in room 265, and Jon Madsen in room 201. The WOW offices
and gallery will be open during the Gallery Walk as well, and
are located in room 271. All of the Civic Center studios and
galleries are
on the north end of the Civic Center's
second floor, off of Garfield.
 |
|

Additionally, other WOW-related artists will
exhibit their artwork in studios outside the Civic Center. Mike
and Jeny Stoesz and Brett Deacon will show in the Stoesz's store
at 213 Grand Avenue, Raymond Jordan will show in his space on
the fifth floor of the Connor Building and Terry Reid will show
in his studio at 408 East Custer. Art mediums to be exhibited
by the WOW artists include fine art photography, jewelry, fiber
arts, pottery, drawings, and photo-real painting.

WOW is a collaborative project between the
Wyoming Small Business Development Center and the Wyoming
Women's Business Center. The project began in 2003 and in late
2007, it evolved into a statewide business incubator for artists
from all artistic genres.
For more information, contact the WOW
offices at 766-3083, or Dan Hayward at 742-6307
Need a typewriter?
The
Chamber has a couple of 'classic' (and by 'classic' we mean
'old') electric typewriters available free to
anyone who wants them. We have a Silver Reed EX200, and an
IBM Selectric II (pictured). We can't vouch for whether they
work or not, but they'll sure look cool in your retro office!
If you're interested, just stop by the Chamber offices and pick
one up. |

The
winter 2007-2008 Edition of the Bridal Planner came out
in January of this year and now has been distributed
throughout the states of Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Alaska,
and Idaho.
Ludwig
Photography is proud to have been chosen to produce the
cover image. Studios around the state were considered.
Laramie native and LCCC student Desiree Wilson is the
featured model in the “wonderfully western wedding
image.”
The
wedding gown was graciously provided by Mountain Valley
Bridal located on 2nd Street in Historic downtown
Laramie.
And
the cowboy hat and designer cowboy boots were provided
by Martindale’s Western Store located on Grand Avenue,
Historic Downtown Laramie across from the Grand News
Stand.
Anne
Brande, 4th generation Wyoming native and 4th generation
owner of Ludwig Photography, created this image by the
Laramie River. |
|
For
the month of February, Ludwig Photography, as well as
the Bead Shop and Mountain Valley Bridal, will be
offering brides ABSOLUTELY FREE a copy of “The
EVERYTHING Wedding Etiquette Book”.
This wonderful book will answer all your questions like:

My Budget For The Wedding?”
- “How Do I Choose
My Wedding Party?”

Should I Consider When Choosing My Wedding
Invitations?”
- “What Do I Need
To Know BEFORE The Ceremony Is Planned?”
- “How Do I Plan
The PERFECT Reception?”
- “ What Do I Need
To Know BEFORE Choosing The Reception Music and
Dancing”
|
|
And there’s much more
too! “The EVERYTHING Wedding Etiquette Book” is a
$20.00 value, but the information will be priceless!
Those who wish a copy of the book simply need to pick up
the special offer card at the participating shops and
call the special toll-free wedding hotline (before the
deadline indicated on the card) to receive a copy of the
book .

we walk to our car and not walking alone at night.
The Women’s Action Network and other campus groups coordinate
the event, which is held April 8th at 5:00 pm in Prexy’s
Pasture.

If you are interested in
becoming a Chamber Member, or
learning more about what your Chamber can do for you and the
community, please contact us today
Funded by your
Membership Investments, the Chamber works for a healthy economic
climate of good jobs, capital creation, and honest, efficient
government. A Chamber’s strength lies in the number and
diversity of its membership. Because the Chamber collectively
embodies the vast experience of the many businesses and
professionals in its membership, it has the knowledge and
insight to identify issues of importance to the business
community, and the combined means to devise and implement
strategies to address them. Chamber members are the most
responsible, innovative, and conscientious business and
professional people in Albany County. The Chamber accomplishes
collectively what no one business or professional can accomplish
alone.
There is power
in the partnership with the members of the Laramie Area Chamber
of Commerce. If you were to put a dollar figure on the
publicity, referrals, business leads, political contacts,
marketing services, economic development projects, research
information, etc., it certainly makes your membership decision
worth the investment.
